SUMMARY:13th European Nutrition Conference (FENS)
DESCRIPTION:Welcome\, \nThe Nutrition Society in cooperation with The Nutrition Society Irish Section are pleased\, as hosts\, to invite you to the 13th European Nutrition Conference\, Federation of European Nutrition Societies (FENS) 2019 in Dublin\, Ireland. The conference will take place from 15 – 18 October 2019 in the Convention Centre Dublin\, Ireland in the heart of Dublin city. \nThe FENS European Nutrition Conference is held once every four years\, and is the premier European meeting in its field. \nThe theme for the 2019 conference is “Malnutrition in an Obese World: European Perspectives”. \nThe scientific programme will feature the best international speakers\, covering a wide programme of subject areas across the spectrum of nutritional science in plenary and parallel session formats. Both oral and poster presentation opportunities for submitted papers and invited speaker slots\, will be included in the four-day programme. A range of other sessions\, such as workshops sessions\, special “Hot Topic” presentations\, industrial symposia\, panel debates\, and satellite symposia or sessions hosted by related organisations and societies are welcome. There is sufficient meeting space within the venue to accommodate a wide range of smaller meetings and sessions\, as well as nearby hotels\, should any visiting societies wish to hold private meetings off-site. \nHealthGrain Forum contributes with a symposium “Improving diet quality with whole grain and cereal fibres” (Tuesday October 15\, 2019 from 15:00-16:30). The following topics will be discussed: \n\n\n\nThe role of whole grain in improving diet quality.  Prof. Chris Seal\, University Newcastle\, UK\nImpact of processing and sprouting on whole grain products.  Prof. Christophe Courtin\, University of Leuven\, Belgium\nEffects of whole grain intake on microbiome composition.  Prof. Koen Venema\, Maastricht University\, Netherlands\n\n\n\nThe symposium is sponsored by Quaker Oats\, Mondelez\, Bühler\, Nestlé Research and Puratos. \nDublin is one of Europe’s great cities. It is presently one of the major cities for industry and sciences. Dublin’s reputation for hospitality and for ensuring a fabulous welcome is legendary. SUMMARY:1st GHI World Congress on Food Safety and Security
DESCRIPTION:The Global Harmonization Initiative (GHI) will host its 1st GHI World Congress on Food Safety and Security in Leiden\, The Netherlands on 24 – 28 March 2019. \nGHI aims to bring together leading scientists\, researchers and research scholars from academia and industry\, decision makers from international organisations\, and the public from across the globe to advance the conversation about the vital role of modern science in food legislation and regulation. \nOne of the major problems in food safety and security regulation is that many existing laws\, rules and guidelines are originated from decades-old data and methods\, several of which are not even relevant to human exposure. Our rationale for organising the 1st GHI World Congress is to generate a platform to present and implement the most suitable assays for food safety and security assessment within different fields — from chemistry and microbiology\, to genetic toxicology and genomics — throughout entire processes\, from farm to fork. \nThe outcomes of the Congress can pave the way toward more accurate detection of human risk to dietary components and thus\, improve human health status. GHI intends to produce a declaration that is agreed by all participants which calls for and establishes a target to change regulations within a specified time based on available

SUMMARY:4th International Congress Hidden Hunger; Hidden hunger and the transformation of food systems: How to combat the double burden of malnutrition?
DESCRIPTION:The 4th Congress Hidden Hunger is a continuation of the successful\, international event series “Congress Hidden Hunger” which started in 2013 in Stuttgart\, Germany. \nAt the 1st Congress Hidden Hunger the causes and consequences of hidden hunger as well as possible solutions were discussed. The 2nd Congress Hidden Hunger which was hosted in 2015 addressed the specific problem of hidden hunger during pregnancy and the first years of life. Associated\, serious consequences for child development and the increased risk for maternal mortality were also discussed. In March 2017\, the 3rd Congress Hidden Hunger considered the question of how far the Post-2015 Agenda and other programs and measures adopted in 2015 to fight against world famine and poverty have already been implemented. To achieve this\, political parties and industry representatives as well as representatives of civil society and advocacy groups (NGOs) were invited to take a position. Furthermore\, successfully established projects and initiatives (such as the special initiative “One World – No Hunger” of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ)) were presented at this previous event of the “Congress Hidden Hunger” series. \nAs in case of the previous congresses in this series\, the 4th Congress Hidden Hunger taking place in 2019 will bring together members of different disciplines: nutritionists\, agricultural scientists\, economists and sociologists. Moreover\, the congress will encourage the dialogue between scientists\, policy-makers and representatives of non-governmental organizations and the private sector. It is dedicated to review the available evidence on the double burden of malnutrition\, present new research findings on underlying causes and consequences\, feature innovative strategies and discuss the roles and responsibilities of governments\, development organizations\, civil society and the private sector in combating the double burden of malnutrition. \nThe “Congress Hidden Hunger” provides a platform for global interactions of members belonging to the scientific community\, representatives from politics\, government and the media as well as members of civil society organizations\, advocacy groups and private and public sector bodies. The considerable and continuous feedback to the first three congresses convinced the organizers to host the 4th Congress Hidden Hunger with the title “Hidden hunger and the transformation of food systems: How to combat the double burden of malnutrition?”.
